Redknapp to miss Chiefs clash
Tottenham Hostpur flew out to South Africa on Wednesday as the team's preparations for the new season continue with their participation in the Vodacom Challenge.
The club revealed that Harry Redknapp will only fly out on Sunday to link up with the squad and will take charge for the club's second fixture in Nelspruit on Tuesday against Orlando Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium, which was also used for four group games during the World Cup finals.
It will be the second time Tottenham have competed in the tournament after they became the first team outside of Africa to lift the trophy in their only previous appearance four years ago.
This time round Tottenham open their compaign on Saturday against Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, which played host to four World Cup Group fixtures last summer.
The final of the Vodacom Challenge will take place on Saturday July 23 at the CocaCola Park in Johannesburg - which hosted eight World Cup fixtures including Spain's quarterfinal win against Paraguay and the Rugby World Cup final in 1995. Tottenham will contest the final against the winners of the fixture between the Pirates and Chiefs.
