Masaka intensify Bunnamwaya woes

Masaka returned to winning ways, thrashing Bunnamwaya 3-1 to shift two places up in the Bell Super League standings at Luzira on Friday.

A goal from Edward Makumbi and a brace from Wan Kisekka ensured Hassan Ssenyonjo’s for the hosts could only count for a consolation.

Masaka now move to sixth position on 16 points while defeat for Bunnamwaya leaves them in the bottom two with just six marks.

The day’s victors, Masaka, came into this tie on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Express while Bunnamwaya were continuing their desperate search for their first win of the campaign.

Makumbi kicked off Masaka’s cause positively, putting the visitors ahead after 21 minutes.

But Bunnamwaya were refusing to cave in, Ssenyonjo equalizing five minutes later to take it into half time at 1-1. But just.

Six minutes into the second half and Masaka were ahead again, Kisekka pouncing on 51 minutes before the forward completed his brace on 64 minutes for a 3-1 deserved victory.
