Kiiza eyes better second round returns

Yanga striker Hamis Kiiza is confident of better Vodacom Premier League second round returns when action resumes late January.

The Uganda Cranes striker is in pre-season training with his club and believes he is now in even better shape for the remaining part of the season.

“I’m feeling great,” he told SuperSport.com, on Wednesday, adding, “I have been training well with my team and also the run-out I had with the national team (Uganda Cranes) at the Cecafa helped keep me a lot.”

Yanga ended the first round on top of proceedings, leading the table with 29 points, five ahead of second-placed Azam and six adrift of traditional rivals Simba.

Kiiza ended that round with just four of the club’s 25 goals. But that is not getting into the striker’s head regarding his determination to scoring more than he did last season when he plundered 14 goals.

“At this time last season I had scored only two goals,” said Kiiza, adding, “But in the second round I scored 12. If I work harder, which I’m doing, I know I’m capable of scoring even more.”
