Chance for mid-table teams to push up
Police go into this weekend’s Bell Super League fixtures as the highest placed team in the log standings as they take on Water in Luzira on Saturday.
The three-match day also involves bottom side Kira Young facing mid-table outfit Entebbe while bottom three Victors entertain Masaka at Kakindu in Jinja.
With none of the traditional giants in action, it is a chance for these mid-table and lower outfits to capitalize and push upward in the standings as the end of the first round approaches.
Police, fifth with 11 points, can reduce the gap on Simba to two if they see off Charles Ayiekoh’s Water at Luzira.
But they face a Water side, eighth on nine points, that are well aware that they will leapfrog the cops should they fashion three points off them.
Should that happen, Entebbe, sixth on 10 points, could capitalize with victory over bottom side Kira, who have only three points to show from eight games. But Kira could also move one place up with a win.
Seventh-placed Masaka on 10 points are the other side that could see some shift upwards should they negotiate Victors.
But Victors, third from bottom with seven points, also know that victory for them could see them leave the relegation zone.
