Villa, Maroons in top log clash

Bell Super League table toppers Maroons and pursuers SC Villa will go head-to-head on Wednesday as the first round fast approaches.

The two face off at Nakivubo Stadium with Maroons looking to open up a seven-point lead at the summit.

Asaph Mwebaze’s Maroons lead the standings with 22 points, four ahead of Villa and Express, having won seven of their eight games, drawing the other.

Villa, the record 16-time league winners, have drawn their previous two games, further losing ground on Maroons, which run coach Mike Mutebi will hope ends when the two clash.

Maroons will count on Kaddu Martin and Peter Otai while Villa on Dalaus Kiwalabye and Hood Kaweesa upfront, each pair having seven goals between them already.

But before this Wednesday clash, there is the small matter of Police entertaining Bunnamwaya at Luzira a day before.

Police, currently fifth on 10 points, will be looking to reduce the gap on Simba, fourth on 16, to just three points.

Bunnamwaya are hardly enjoying their season having not won any game in eight. They lie bottom of an 11-team league with just three points.
