Police hold SC Villa

SC Villa wasted an opportunity to close the gap on leaders Maroons after being held to a 2-2 draw by Police.

The cops twice battled from a goal down at Luzira on Saturday thanks to Alege Abdu and Enock Kibumba strikes to cancel Villa’s earlier goals by Fred Ssekajoolo and John Paul Mugulusi.

Mike Mutebi’s Villa would have cut the gap between them and Maoons, who also shared spoils with Kira Young with the same scoreline, to just three had they won.

The Jogoos now are instead five behind on 17 points, two ahead of third-placed and reigning champions Express.

Police, who came into this encounter after losing to rivals Simba in their previous match, lie eighth on as many points.

Villa went ahead on 29 minutes when Ssekajoolo opened the scoring before Mugulusi doubled the advantage 11 minutes after the break.

Alege pulled one back for Police on the hour before Kibumba ensured they went home with at least a point 10 minutes later.
