Champions keep pressure on
Express maintained pressure on the leading pack by beating Masaka 2-0 in the Bell Super League in Masaka on Saturday.
Mayanja Sulaiman and Isaac Kyewalyanga scored the goals for the Bell Super League champions as they picked up their fifth win of the campaign.
The result sees Express return to third place on 15 points, two and seven adrift of second placed SC Villa and leaders Maroons respectively.
Masaka stay sixth on 10 points in a league of 11 topflight teams. Express have not had the best of starts in their title defence, losing three of their eight games so far.
But they will be glad with these particular three points, especially that the top two teams above them all dropped points.
And the champions were fast out of the blocks, going ahead as early as the second minute when Sulaiman struck.
They doubled the advantage through Kyewalyanga 13 minutes from time to end any hopes of Masaka salvaging anything from the game.
