Villa edge out Bunnamwaya
Hood Kaweesa scored the game’s solitary goal as SC Villa beat Bunnamwaya 1-0 at Nakivubo to reduce the gap on leaders Maroons to five points.
The victory etched out on Saturday sees the 16-time league champions move to 16 points, one ahead of third-placed Simba.
If coach Mike Mutebi’s Villa win their game in hand on Maroons, which is next Saturday against Police, they will move to within two points of the leaders.
Defeat for Bunnamwaya left the 2010 champions without a win in eight games and they remain in the bottom two with just four points.
Villa were returning from the RPF Anniversary Tournament in Kigali where they failed to make the finals but that mattered less when action got underway at Nakivubo, Kaweesa’s 33rd minute goal deciding the encounter.
