Simba win battle of forces
The soldiers, Simba, came out smarting after beating bitter rivals Police 2-1 in the battle of security forces at Bombo on Saturday.
A Sebastian Samanya own goal and Robert Obed strike saw Simba take the day, with Henry Wanyama’s, goal, which actually opened the floodgates, only proving a consolation.
The Bell Super League victory for Simba had the army side move one place up to third on 15 points, six behind leaders Maroons and one adrift of second placed SC Villa.
This was Simba’s fifth victory of the season after seven games, while for Police, who have won just two of their six matches, it was their fourth defeat. The cops drop two places to ninth on six points in an 11-team league.
And they threatened to surge to all three points early on, drawing first blood after just 15 minutes when Wanyama pounced to make it 1-0 for Police.
But Simba hit back on 33 minutes, Samanya’s own goal gifting the soldiers an invaluable equaliser. They were not done, Obed’s 55th minute strike proving the winner.
