Bunna, Express in epic clash

Two Bell Super League games are lined up this weekend with Bunnamwaya hosting Express at Luzira on Friday the highlight.

With SC Vila-Maroons, earlier scheduled for Sunday, postponed on the request of the former, who travel to Kigali to participate in the Rwanda Patriot Front (RPF) Anniversary Tournament, only three games are on card.

After the big one at Luzira on Friday, Masaka will host army side Simba in Masaka on Saturday as Police entertain Victors, the same day.

While Express, fourth on nine points, will definitely not count a blistering start to their title defence, their opponents, Bunnamwaya, ninth out of 11teams in the table standings with just three points, cannot have ridden on worse wheels.

Express coach Ibrahim Buwembo will bank on the league’s leading scorer with three goals, Bright Aguma, to inflict more misery on Bunnamwaya, who are yet to win a game.

Masaka will have to beat Simba if any Express win must not tilt their table standings. Ahead of the Red Eagles by a point on 10, the upcountry side, currently in third place, can go level with second-placed Villa on 13 points if they muster victory over Simba on Saturday.

But Simba will not take any Masaka attack on the chin, with the Bombo Barracks side aware that an away victory will move them to 12 points and will see them leapfrog their opponents into third place.

Seventh-placed Police on eight points can also go third if they beat winless and bottom side, Victors, and Masaka and Express lose or fail to win.
