SC Villa-Maroons postponed

The top of the Bell Super League table clash between leaders Maroons and SC Villa has been postponed to a date to be communicated.

The duo were due to face off on Sunday with Maroons bringing into the fixture a brutal six-match winning streak while Villa were looking to bring that run to a halt.

But with Mike Mutebi’s Villa travelling to Kigali, Rwanda, for the 25th Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) Anniversary Tournament due this weekend, the game has been called off.

“Uganda Super League (USL) secretariat hereby notifies the Media and Public that the SC Villa Vs Maroons FC match meant to be played on Sunday 16th December 2012 has been postponed,” reads in part a statement from the league managers.

“SC Villa had sent a request to the secretariat for permission (granted) to participate in the two-day APR Anniversary Tournament that starts on Friday 14th (15th) December 2012 in Rwanda.”

Maroons have accrued a maximum 18 points from their opening six games and lead Villa, who are second on 13 points, by five marks.

However, the other scheduled matches will go on as planned with Bunnamwaya entertaining Express at Luzira Prisons Grounds on Friday, Masaka at home to Simba and Police hosting Victors.
