Feni targets Cecafa glory
Former Bell Super League champions URA will be seeking to win their first Cecafa silverware when the Championship kicks off on July 14 in Dar es Salaam.
The four-time league winners lost the title to Express on the last day of the just-ended season and midfielder Moses Ali Feni says they want to make up for that disappointment by winning the regional gong.
“We are looking forward to winning the tournament,” said Feni, adding, “Especially after losing the league. Our focus is now firmly on Cecafa.
“The team has reached the finals twice in the past though the last attempt was a big disappointment.”
The tax collectors were losing finalists on their debut attempt in 2007 and later in 2008.
But it is at their last appearance in 2010 that left a bad taste in their mouth as they were eliminated in the group stage.
However, Feni – URA’s best player in the second half of the season - believes the Uganda Cup holders have learnt enough lessons from their past mistakes to lift the title.
“It’s a big challenge but we have lessons and have enough experience to go on and win it.”
