Italy join Confed Cup qualifiers
Italy booked themselves a place in next summer's Confederations Cup in Brazil after they reached the final of Uefa Euro 2012™ with a 2-1 win over Germany in Warsaw.
Spain are also through to Sunday's final in Kiev but they were already pre-qualified for next summer's event as they are also world champions, hence Italy will represent Europe even if they lose the showdown.
The Spanish and Italians will represent Europe with Japan competing as Asian champions, Uruguay and Mexico also in the mix as South American and CONCACAF American champions respectively while Brazil play as upcoming World Cup hosts.
Tahiti are the surprise qualifiers as champions of Oceania while the African participant will be the team which lifts next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
The Confederations Cup will begin on June 15 and run to June 30 with Rio de Janeiro (final), Brasilia (opening match) and semifinals venues Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza so far confirmed as host cities.
Recife and Salvador hope to be added to the list but Fifa will make a definitive decision in November when it reviews facilities there.
