Hitzfeld tips Bayern, Dortmund to win UCL



Champions League winning coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund can win the lucrative competition this season.

"Schalke is a little too inconsistent, but I believe Dortmund and Bayern can win the Champions League. However, much will depend on the draw," he said in Monday's Bild newspaper.

"The German league is as strong as never before."

The current Swiss national team coach, who was in charge of Dortmund (1997) and Bayern Munich (2001) when they won the Champions League, said he could not imagine returning to coaching a club. "Qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 is my big goal."

The 63-year-old believes that surprise team Eintracht Frankfurt could challenge for a place in next season's competition. "They could remain in contention until the end of the season and they have a top striker."
