Di Matteo could turn to Drogba, Torres
Roberto Di Matteo could gamble on a front pairing of Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres in Chelsea's biggest game of the season.
The Blues boss used the strikers together for the last 21 minutes of their win over relegated Blackburn at the weekend and could do the same in Saturday's Uefa Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
The pair have never started together since Di Matteo took over from the sacked Andre Villas-Boas in March and he brought them on as second half substitutes on Sunday.
They have started together on five occasions, but having never scored a goal in any of these or the 19 other times they have been paired in a match as substitutes indicates they are not well suited together.
LOOK AND SEE
But with suspensions and mounting injury worries Di Matteo thought he would have one last look at how they worked together as he may be tempted into playing them both against Bayern at the Allianz Arena.
"I tried a few things to just have a look and see how it could work out," he told Chelsea TV.
"It's always difficult because obviously it's going to be a different opposition.
"But I've been trying to figure out a few things."
TERRY
Captain John Terry will the final through suspension and he signed off for the season by heading in his seventh goal of the campaign against Rovers, one shy of his personal record.
"I am delighted with seven," he said. "I rose up and it was a decent header, I was delighted with it, and I was pleased with the performance as a whole."
Terry, who was heavily criticised for his performance in Tuesday's 4-1 thrashing at Liverpool, added: "It's always good to end the league season with a win, especially bouncing back after Liverpool in the week as well.
"Now we go into a huge week and we can start concentrating on Munich.
"Robbie has rested players, hopefully we will have everyone fit, and those of us that are suspended have been playing games and we still have a big part to play this week in training and preparation."
