Okwi Joins Etoile Du Sahel
Simba SC Striker Emmanuel Okwi has joined Tunisian Side Etoile du Sahel for a Tanzania record fee of $300,000.
The 21-year-old Ugandan striker who joined the Tanzanian giants Simba in 2010 from Ugandan side SC Villa, passed his medical earlier on Monday and he will earn a reportedly $15,000 per month.
"It’s a done deal. Simba and Etoile du Sahel have agreed to the sale of Okwi at a fee of $300,000, and we will get 10 percent of his onward sale. He is now finalizing his personal terms with his new club," Simba Spokesman Ezekiel Kamwaga confirmed to supersport.com.
"It is a huge deal for us to turn down. We had no choice, but to accept it. We will invest on his sale to our academy with our new coach, and use it to buy more players in the next transfer window," he added.
Okwi won the Vodacom Premier League (2011-12) where he scored 12 goals. He led Simba to the Kagame Cup quarterfinals and was on the scoresheet as Simba won the Community Shield after a 3-2 victory over Azam.
