Taifa Stars beat Kenya



Tanzania’s national team Taifa Stars managed a 1-0 victory over Kenya's Harambee Stars in a friendly game played at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

Stars striker and last year’s top scorer John Bocco was on the bench, while Kenya's wonderboy Victor Wanyama was ruled out.

A highly contested game it was, Taifa Stars getting a breakthrough early in the game, a goal that stood till the final whistle.

Aggrey Morrice scored the only goal of the game which resulted from a corner early in the sixth minute.

“It was a tough game for sure, we thank God - we have won the game,” Stars Captain Juma Kaseja told SuperSport.com.

“The team played very well, despite two days of training. The opponents played well, but I think we were the lucky side,” he added.

Taifa Stars Team: Juma Kaseja, Shomari Kapombe, Amir Maftah, Aggrey Morrice, Kevin Yondan, Frank Domayo, Salum Abubakar, Mwinyi Kazimoto, Mbwana Samatta, Mrisho Ngassa and Thomas Ulimwengu.

Harambee Stars Team: Jerim Onyango, Brian Mandela, Eugene Asike, James Situma, Edwin Wafula, Jerry Santo, Peter Opiyo, Patrick Oboya, Patrick Osiako, Dennis Oliech and Wesley Kemboi.
