Simba win Bank ABC Super8



Tanzanian league champions Simba are the Bank ABC Super8 champions after a 4-3 win over Mtibwa Sugar FC at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Christopher Edward that took his tally of goals in the tournament nine was enough to lead the Msimbazi club to glory, earning their second silverware just before the new season following the Urafiki Cup triumph last month.

Edward opened the scoring in the 13th minute after a brilliant assist from Ramadhan Singano. Mtibwa got back into the game in the 32nd minute thanks to a well taken penalty by Shaaban Kisiga to make it 1-1 at the break.

After resumption, Simba regained the lead on 54minutes with Edwards grabbing his brace. Mtibwa sugar equalized three minutes later to make it 2-2 with Kisiga scoring his second.

Haroun Athuman netted Simba's third goal in the 67th minute but Mtibwa were not done yet, as they levelled the matters ten minutes from time thanks to a goal by Hassan Seif to make the scores 3-3 and take the game to extra time.

Edward sealed Simba's triumph in the 112th min as his grabbed his hat-trick.

The winners received $25510 (40mil TSHS) while runners-up Mtibwa get $12755 (20mil TSHS). Top Scorer Christopher Edward gets $1275 (2mil TSHS), and Mtibwa's Shaaban Kisiga was the MVP receiving $1600 (2.5mil TSHS).
