Cecafa goes to polls

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) goes to polls on Thursday.
Incumbent president, Leodgar Tenga Tenga will be up against his deputy Fadoul Hussein who doubles up as the chairman of the Djibouti Football Association, in a two man race for the top seat.
Tenga took over from the late Cecafa president Dennis Obua during the previous elections held in 2008.
Besides the presidential election for the body, eight other people are contesting for the executive committee posts.
Those lined up for the four executive committee membership posts are Tariq Atta Salih (Sudan), Abdiqani Saeed Arab (Somalia), Hafidh Ali Tahir (Zanzibar), Justus Mugisha (Uganda), and Tesfaye Gebreyesus (Eritrea).
Other is Abubakar Nkejimana (Burundi). Sahilu Wolde (Ethiopia) and Raoul Gisanura (Rwanda).
Cecafa general secretary Nicholas Musonye told SuperSport.com that logistics pertaining to the elections are complete.
“The elections are going to be peaceful. We are democratic and conduct our operations in a
transparent manner and I believe the best candidate will carry the day,” said Musonye.
Musonye who is expected to go un-opposed said the day’s business will start with the congress before paving way for the eagerly awaited elections.
The elections will be monitored by officials from Caf and will be held at JB Belmont Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
