Cecafa Cup Groups revealed

Defending champions of Cecafa Senior Chalenge Cup, Kilimanjaro Stars will face Rwanda, Ethiopia and Djibout in a tricky group revealed in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday afternoon.

The 12 team tournament expected to take place in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam from November 25 to December 10 ,has Malawi as the only invited team out of cecafa members.

Secretary General of Cecafa Nicholaus Musonye told the press in Dar es Salaam they are planning to have Mwanza City as host city for one of the groups if will they get a sponsor.

They have been given a deadline till Friday. The fixture will be released on Saturday.

According to Musonye, Group B will include former champions Uganda, Burundi, Zanzibar and Somalia .

e Group C has Kenya, Sudan, Malawi and Eritrea.

He added that ,they decided to invite Malawi because did'nt qualify for CAN 2012.

Musonye says; "There were more than ten countries which applied to participate. The countries are Botswana, Zambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast and others but we failed to get them because they qualified for CAF finals and they are bound by regulations not to participate any tournament two months before the Afcon finals."

The Group A is tricky due to the preparation and record of the teams involved. Rwanda has a new tactician from Serbia Sredjovic Milutin 'Micho' who knows much about African football especially Tanzania where he coached Yanga.

Ethiopia will be under new Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet . Uganda under Scottish Bobby Williamson and also in group B are Zanzibar and Burundi who have a lot of youth players.

Malawi participated last season where they lost 1-0 in the quarters against Ivory Coast .

Serengeti Breweries through its Tusker brand will spend over Sh823million as sponsorship for this year's tournament.
