English Barclays Premier League club, Sunderland, have played down reports linking them with plan to sign on Celtic defender, Efe Ambrose.
Sunderland manager, Martin O'Neill, has said there has been no discussions between him and the manager of the Scottish champions, Neil Lennon over the defender.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats are not making Ambrose a priority in their transfer policy in the summer.
"It's been news to me. I've not spoken to Neil Lennon about Ambrose," O'Neill was quoted by Sunderland Echo.
Sunderland are, however, not the only club linked with the impressive Nigerian defender.
Swansea City and Liverpool are the other clubs strongly speculated to be interested in the 24-year-old.
Latest reports suggest that Liverpool will keep tabs on the defender after their scout had tendered Ambrose's name as a possible target in the summer.
Lennon has already admitted that he is aware of interest coming Ambrose's way.
"I know a few Ambrose fans. There is nothing concrete, but I am aware of the interest," said Lennon.
Ambrose joined the Hoops in the summer of 2012 and is current contract at Celtic runs out in 2015.
