Nigeria captain, Joseph Yobo, has described the alleged resignation of his coach, Stephen Keshi, as "a big surprise."
Yobo, 32, told Nigerian-based sports radio station, Brila FM, that he and his teammates are in the dark concerning the decision of the 51-year-old coach to quit just 24 hours after winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The Fenerbahce centre-back also revealed he talked to Keshi on the matter.
"It was a big surprise. I went to him to speak with him when we heard. We don't know his reasons for resigning but we are not happy with the situation and I'm not sure what the situation is right now until we get to Nigeria," said Yobo on Tuesday morning from Oliver Tambo airport.
"We hope this is resolved as we are supposed to be celebrating after working hard and winning."
On Monday, Keshi had announced South African radio, Metro FM, he resigned his appointment as Nigeria's head coach.
