Keshi names 23 for 2013 Afcon

Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Stephen Keshi has called up 23 domestically-based players to camp ahead of the Super Eagles’ participation at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Enugu Rangers’ goal keeper, Chigozie Agbim was invited to the squad as were regulars, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Godfrey Oboabona and Ejike Uzoenyi.

One Europe-based player, Fegor Ogude who is currently on holidays in Nigeria was also asked to report to camp.

The team is expected at its usual abode at the Bolton White Apartment, Zone 7, Abuja on Sunday, December 16, all players and officials are expected at the time and training will effectively starts on Monday, December 17.

The list of foreign based players is expected to be named in the week leading to Christmas, as the team is expected to travel by 27 December for the final phase of its camping in Faro, Portugal.

Meanwhile Keshi says he expects the players to give their best as camp opens on Sunday.

‘The players know what to expect. This is very serious business and I expect them to give their best,” he told supersport.com.

Midfielders: Sunday Chinedu, Emeka Ezeh (Rangers), Henry Uche (Enyimba), Gabriel Reuben (Kano Pillars), Philip Asuquo (Shooting Stars), Pius Samson (Ranch Bees), Fegor Ogude (Valerenga/NOR)

Forwards: Ejide Uzoenyi, Sunday Mba (Rangers), Gomo Onduku (Sharks), Mannir Ubale, Gambo Mohammed (Kano Pillars), Anthony Okpotu (Lobi)
