Abidal cleared to play in last Barca game

Barcelona said Eric Abidal has been cleared to play in his last game with the Spanish club after recovering from a nagging leg injury.

The 33-year-old French defender is leaving to prolong his playing career with another club after Barcelona decided to not offer him a contract extension beyond this season.

Abidal had missed several games because of the injury.

Abidal battled back from a liver transplant last year to play again for Barcelona. He also recovered from a liver tumor in 2011.

The Frenchman helped Barcelona win 15 titles in six seasons during the club's most successful run.

Barcelona play Malaga on Saturday needing a win to cap their championship campaign with a record-matching haul of 100 points.
