Lobi to continue winning streak

Lobi Stars central defender, Anthony Agbaji has said his side will test their newly-found winning mentality on El Kanemi Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 17 tie at the Emmanuel Atongo Stadium, Katsina-Ala on Sunday.

The Makurdi-based side have picked four points in their last two matches, grabbing a point at Gombe United and edging former Nigerian champions, Dolphins 1-0 in Katsina-Ala in Matchday 15.

Agbaji said his side will not compromise on the three points at stake as it is vital to churn up their position on the log.

“Lobi Stars have rediscovered their winning aura and we’re going to repeat the form against El-Kanemi Warriors this weekend.

“There won’t be any escape from defeat for the Maiduguri-based side not now we need all the points we can get to improve our rating on the log.

“Nobody is excited at the position of the side at the log at the moment, a side like Lobi should be rubbing shoulders with their mates at the top not struggling as the case suggests.

“We’ve vowed to contest every point in our next matches both home and away and with the renewed spirit among the players I’m confident in no distance time Lobi will take their rightful place in the league.

“We’ve told everybody who cares to listen that Lobi are candidates for the continent in the ongoing season. Anybody who writes us off will be doing so at his own risk.

“We’ve overcome the initial teething problem that held us down in the past weeks and now we’re on the rise again and nothing will bring us down again.

“We’ve resolved to give the side our best to ensure we pick good result in any game we’re involved,” said the Lobi Stars strongman to supersport.com.

The fallen Caf Confederation Cup campaigners have garnered 21 points from a possible 48 and victory against the Maiduguri-based side this weekend will further improve their position on the log.
