Sharks aim to extinguish Shooting Stars

Sharks captain, Odinga Odinga, has declared that this weekend’s NPFL encounter against 3SC at the Sharks Stadium is a must-win for his side as anything less would not be in the interest of their fight to move out from the drop zone.

Odinga told supersport.com that it is important that the team start making effort to move clear of the relegation battle sooner rather than later.

"We have no choice but to go all out for a win against 3SC so as to improve on our position in the league and also to win back the confidence of our fans," he said.

"It is better to start fighting our way out of the basement zone now that we're still in the first round.

"The defeat to Akwa United didn't help our cause at all, but it's all in the past and we have to focus on beating 3SC now."

Odinga said they are aware of 3SC's poor away record, but would not underrate them.

"We are not going to underrate 3SC simply because they are yet to pick up any point from their away games.

"They are a big side and are dangerous customers any day, but we are well prepared for them.

"There has been a marked improvement in our performances in recent games and we are confident we can win this match.

"I expect a tough game, but from our own perspective, it is either victory or nothing else," he said.

Sharks are 19th on the NPFL log with nine points, while 3SC are sixth with 15 points.
