Warriors want all points

El-Kanemi Warriors’ centre-back, Stanley Onuegbu has said his side are more keen raking in three points than the goal margin.

The Maiduguri-based side were beaten 1-4 by Warri Wolves which has kept the side in second spot from the bottom on six points from a possible 21.

El-Kanemi Warriors have a rear opportunity to shore up their fortune as they play host to high-riding 3SC in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 8 at the El-Kanemi Stadium on Wednesday.

Onuegbu said his side will go all out to grab the three points at stake regardless of the score line so as to improve on their fortune on the log.

“For now we’re more interested in the three points and less on the goal margin. It’s the three points that can improve on our rating on the log.

“So we’re going for an outright victory against 3SC. The defeat at Warri Wolves though very painful is history, we’re not targeting anybody for revenge but to pick our points as we progress.

“I’m aware the manager is not comfortable with the performance of the forward men. However, I think it’s a team problem and together we’ll pull ourselves out of the wood.

“I know it’s a matter of time we’ll be on the path of recovery and will surely reassert ourselves in the league.

“Where we’re at the moment is not a true reflection of the standard of the side. Nobody is happy but I know for certain that we’ll overcome the setback,” he said to supersport.com.

The NPFL newcomers have struggled to assert themselves in the seven-week old NPFL both at home and on the road.
