Lobi will outrun Sunshine - Agbaji

Lobi Stars' defender, Anthony Agbaji has said his side will maintain their newly-found winning mentality against Sunshine Stars in Saturday's pre-season test match at the Emmanuel Atongo Stadium, Katsina-Ala in Benue State.

The nation's Caf Confederation Cup campaigners had earlier defeated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Wikki Tourists 3-1 in a build-up match heading to the commencement of the 2012/13 season on March 9.

Lobi will travel to Yenagoa to face former Nigerian champions, Bayelsa United on Matchday 1 of the NPFL while the Akure Gunners will host Kaduna United in the season's opening match.

Agbaji said though the encounter is friendly they intend to record a convincing win to further boost their confidence for the continental and league hostilities.

"After last week's 3-1 victory against Wikki Tourists, we're determined to stretch the winning run against Sunshine Stars on Saturday.

"We're expecting a tough challenge from Sunshine Stars that will help us prepare adequately both for the league and the Confederation Cup.

"We've learnt our lesson at the Super Four tournament which exposed few lapses. We've worked on the loopholes and are now in top shape. We'll be the team to beat this season," he said to supersport.com.

The Lobi strongman said his side will use the season's opener against newcomers, Bayelsa United to announce their intention to challenge for the league shield.

"Starting our league title chase away is an advantage as we intend to win massive and make a bold statement of our resolve to claim the league title this season. We're preparing very well for a dance party in Yenagoa," he said.
