Odeh on rescue mission

Newly appointed technical adviser of Jigawa Golden Stars, Rolandson Odeh has said his main responsibility is to save the Nigeria National League (NNL) side from going down to the Nationwide League at the end of the 2012/2013 league season.

The former Super Falcons' coach joined Jigawa Golden Stars three weeks ago for a two-year contract.

Odeh has already grabbed two wins and draw on the bench to take the side points haul to 11 and 13th on the log. Jigawa defeated visiting Kogi United 3-0 in Saturday's Matchday 10 at the 15, 000 seats Hadejia Stadium.

The former Falconets' coach said his work script is to stabilise the team in the first year campaign and chase promotion in the subsequent year.

"I'm the technical adviser of Jigawa Golden Stars, I signed a two-year contract three weeks ago.

"I'm here to rescue and save the team from going on relegation so that by next year we'll challenge for promotion.

However, that's not to say we won't fight for good positioning on the log, the league is still fresh. We've many weeks to play, I guess nobody at the moment can justifiably lay claim to the title.

"The job is a tough no doubt about it but the beauty of it is that I'm not under pressure as I've good working atmosphere.

"We'll try to build the team with the tools at hands while we wait for mid-season to bring in experienced players to fortify the side for the battle ahead," said the former Rivers Angels' coach to supersport.com.

Jigawa Golden Stars were among the four teams demoted to the Nigeria National League at the end of the 2011/2012 Nigeria Professional Football League.
