Ighalo scores 4th of the season

Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo is up to four goals this season in Spain’s La Liga.

The 23-year-old volleyed home after 24 minutes to temporarily peg the scores at 1-1 against Celta Vigo at the Estadio Balaídos.

The former Under-23 international was unlucky not to grab his second of the game just before the hour, seeing his thumping drive from the edge of the area come back off the bar.

The game eventually finished 2-1 with Celta claiming maximum points as Granada are now left to contemplate the nerve-wracking prospect of relegation following their promotion from La Segunda a couple of seasons ago.

Lucas Alcaraz’s men now look nervously behind their shoulders as the race to avoid the drop gathers momentum.

Granada are in 14th place on the log with 26 points from 25 matches, a solitary point away from safety.

On the brighter side, Ighalo will be pleased to have hit a purple patch at the business end of the season as he scored for Granada last week against the La Liga leaders, FC Barcelona at Nuevos Los Carmenes in a game the home side lost 1-2.
