Rangers aim to beach Sharks in Calabar

Enugu Rangers' right-back, Uzonna Uzochukwu has said his side are going for victory against NPL rivals, Sharks in Thursday's pre-season friendly match in Calabar.

The Coal City side lost 0-1 to Kwara United in a pre-season match on Sunday at the Kwara State Stadium, llorin.

Uzochukwu said his side are determined to end a series of poor results trailing the side in recent pre-season matches.

"What happened at the NPL pre-season Super Four tournament is now history same as the recent defeat in the hands of Kwara United. Such results will not happen again not even in the friendly game against Sharks on Thursday.

"Though it's a friendly we're going into the match with our first-team. We want to win, at least, to restore some level of confidence back into the team. So we're playing our best game and Sharks should be ready for the battle of their lives," said the Super Eagles' player to supersport.com.

Uzochukwu said he is sure Sharks will give his side a tough challenge to prepare them for the continental duty against the Sao Tome & Principe side, SC Do Principe later this month.

"We believe Sharks will give us the opposition that will help us face our continental opponents, SC Do Principe of Sao Tome & Principe on February 16 in Enugu. In fact, that is why we have opted to play against a Premier League side," he said.

The Flying Antelopes are expected to enter into a closed door camp after Thursday's friendly encounter against the Port Harcourt-based side.
