Kwara to build on victory

Kwara United striker, Kabiru Sanusi has said his side's 1-0 win against Enugu Rangers in Sunday's friendly at the Kwara State Stadium, llorin showed their readiness for the new league season.

Sanusi grabbed the winner in the eighth minute for his side in the hard fought high profile encounter between the NPL sides.

The Afonja Warriors' hitman said the friendly against the Coal City side which is the toughest and biggest has convinced his teammates that they can take on any team when league starts on February 16.

"Today (Sunday) is my happiest day, we won our biggest friendly against a high profile side, Enugu Rangers and Nigeria won their toughest Afcon challengers, the Elephants of Cote d' Ivoire.

"We've played several pre-season matches but none could be compared in standard with the Rangers' game.

"Rangers are a big side and have been involved in many championship both in and outside Nigeria so for us to beat them means we're ready for the league and can comfortably handle any opposition.

"Both sides didn't see it as a do-or-die encounter as it remains a build-up game ahead of the start of the league and I think Rangers gave us what it takes to play a big side," he said to supersport.com.

Kwara United are expected to resume their final phase of closed door camping this week in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State where they will intensify training as well as engage themselves in more friendly games.
