NPL draws holds next week

Strong indication has emerged that the draws for the 2012/13 Nigeria Premier League season will come to an end next week.

The draws was scheduled to hold in Kano on January 12 at the close of the NPL Super Four tournament but was suddenly called off due to non-availability of fund.

However, the incident did not stop the NPL Interim Management Committee from going ahead to fix the commencement date of the new season on Saturday, February 16.

The secretary of the committee, Tunji Babalola said the draws may hopefully hold next week without specifying the date.

"The draws may hold next week but no specific date for now. I believe once the management committee is done and satisfied that logistics for the ceremony is in place they will make the date and venue public.

"However, the February 16 kickoff date for the new league season stays as scheduled. Everything humanly possible is being done to ensure nothing alters the date," he said to supersport.com.

Though clubs have continued to express their worries over the delayed announcement of the draws date which to them makes the February 16 league kickoff date uncertain than any other thing else, they, however, have gone ahead with series of pre-season matches and tournaments to keep their players in perfect shape for the season.
