United thump Pillars again

The Nigeria Premier League side, Kaduna United came from a goal down to defeat domestic champions, Kano Pillars 2-1 in two-legged pre-season match in Kaduna on Sunday.

The first fixture ended 1-1 on Wednesday at the Sanni Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Pillars edged forward barely four minutes into the encounter being used by both sides to prepare for the start of the 2012/2013 NPL season on February 16.

Kaduna United fought back forcefully to restore parity through right winger, Nelson Nimyel while centre back and captain, Emmanuel Ambrose grabbed the winner for his side.

An elated United coach, Salleh Tanko-Lato said his wards showed absolute dominance in the entire encounter.

"Pillars' early goal almost demoralised my players but the equaliser came to serve as the catalyst we needed to win the game. I wasn't surprised that we took full control of the game thereafter till the end.

"It was a good game for both sides but I'm happy the confidence level and winning mentality are growing steadily among the players. We hope to perfect little mistakes here and there before the season kicks off next month," he said.

Supersport.com gathered that Kaduna United will engage NPL new comers, Nasarawa United in another friendly game either on Thursday or at the weekend in Kaduna.
