Ejide to miss Farense clash

Nigeria goalkeeper, Austin Ejide will miss Wednesday’s tune-up game against Portuguese club, Farense.

The Hapoel Be'er Sheva keeper hobbled off injured during the Super Eagles’ friendly against Cape Verde on January 9 and was subsequently replaced by Vincent Enyeama.

Ejide resumed training on Monday but Wednesday’s friendly against the Portuguese second division club will arrive too soon for the 28-year-old.

“Ejide has began training but he won’t be playing today’s game. Apart from Ejide however, (super Eagles head coach, Stephen) Keshi has a full complement of players to choose from,” spokesman of the team, Ben Alaiya told supersport.com on Tuesday.

The Eagles' media chief also revealed that Ejide is "fit as a fiddle but still being closely monitored to avoid a relapse by the medical crew."

He trained with the team’s goalkeeping trainer, Ike Shorunmu and physiotherapist, Olawale Oladejo with both individuals confirming that they won’t rush.

It has also been confirmed that Ejide’s recovery is going according to script.
