Super Four to decide champs - Afelokhai

Kano Pillars' goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai has said his side's Matchday 1 Super Four opponents, Heartland will not be twice lucky over the Pyramid City side.

Cup holders, Heartland edged the Nigerian champions for the Charity Cup shield in Port Harcourt and Afelokhai said it will be payback time when both sides clash at the start of the Super Four tournament on Wednesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

"It's an encounter we've looked forward to after the painful defeat in the Charity Cup tie in Port Harcourt. I think the Super Four tournament will once and for all decide the best team in the land.

"The re-match against Heartland is welcomed and we're prepared to make up for the Charity Cup defeat and once again prove to Nigerians that we're the best team in the land.

"We're not only targeting a win against Heartland but to emerge winner of the Super Four tourney.

"We're not under any pretence that the tournament will be cheap given the quality of opposition, we've assembled the best legs, the spirit is high among my teammates and I'm confident we'll deliver the goods at the end of the day," he said to supersport.com.

Lobi Stars will face Enugu Rangers in another Matchday one top clash.

Afelokhai whose side will kick off their African title chase against Olympique de Bangui of Central African Republic next month said the Super Four challenge will equip them for the continental assault.

"The Super Four tournament is a commendable event and I'm sure it will equip us for the Caf Champions League assignment.

"We want to actually challenge for the Africa's title as well as the domestic shield," he said.

Afelokhai was named Best Goalkeeper of the 2011/12 Premier League season by the League Bloggers Awards (LBA).
