Kaduna Utd line up Duamlong

Former Gombe United coach, Ben Duamlong is now one of the frontrunners to get the head coach role at Premier League side, Kaduna United.

A top official of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club informed supersport.com this week that Duamlong is one of four shortlisted candidates for the job.

A statement from Kaduna United this week also confirmed that the future of current coach, Saleh Lato Tanko is in doubt at the club.

"However doubts still remains over the future of Coach Saleh Lato Tanko with reports speculating that he might be replaced by an experienced coach to avoid a scenario like last season where the team escaped relegation on the last day of the season," the statement revealed.

Supersport.com can report that it is not the first time that The Crocodiles are shortlisting Duamlong for the head coach role.

In 2009, Duamlong was among the top three shortlist but failed to get the job.

All of this is, however, happening following the re-appointment of Sabo Babayaro as general manager of the club by the Kaduna State government.

Babayaro's return to the Premier League club has triggered off major shake-ups in the coaching, playing and administrative set-up of Kaduna United.

In the wake of Babayaro's return, interim general manager, Monsur Jibo was dropped to the position of team manager while Iliya Ruga, formerly team manager is now welfare officer.

Babayaro has been chairman of Kaduna United since 2003 before the management board he led was dissolved by the sports ministry of the state last year.

Kaduna United's only major silverware since the club were founded in 2000 remains the Federation Cup in 2010.
