Kogi United in shock

Nigeria National League (NNL) club, Kogi United have expressed shock and remorse over their 1-2 home defeat to Adamawa United in the Matchday 3 encounter on Saturday.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 44th minute through Arinze Oyota, but United lost concentration in the second half and they were made to pay for their profligacy as the visitors struck twice in the 55th and 80th minute respectively through Ibrahim Godo and Aliu Yusuf.

Kogi United would have gotten a draw in the duel as Adamawa United were baptised with flurry of attacks with five minutes to the end of the game, but their best chance was wasted at the death by Issa Mohammed.

Head coach of Kogi United, Baba Anini however condemned his wards for their lacklustre performance against their foes on Saturday.

“We did well in the first half as we scored a great goal, but my players lost their senses in the second half and they were punished.

“The officiating was the best I have ever seen but my boys disappointed me yesterday (Saturday)," he explained to supersport.com.

Anini, 37, however vowed that their next opponents would suffer the consequence of their home defeat to Adamawa United.

“Our next foes would have to pay for the loss as we have noted some of our mistakes and we promise that the team will bounce back from our next game,” he added.

Kogi United will now travel to keep a date with Zamfara United in their Matchday 4 fixture next weekend.

Elsewhere, the local derby at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos saw Juth losing 0-1 at home to Mighty Jets.

On Sunday, striker Bode Daniel hit a hat-trick as Crown FC defeated Rising Stars 3-1 at the Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso.
