3SC want marked improvements in league

3SC coach Akeem Busari hopes the delayed start to the 2012/13 season would be justified by the NPL board at the end of the season with a much improved campaign.

The league has suffered several postponements since October, leading to disjointed preparations by the participating clubs, but Busari told supersport.com that there would be a lot of understanding of the situation should there were positive reforms and if credible sponsors emerge by the end of the season.

"The postponements haven’t helped us plan effectively and we hope there wouldn’t be any more shifting of the commencement date," he said.

"Majority of the clubs had mapped out their strategies and are now being forced to do it all over again and this is affecting the morale of the players.

"It would however be a welcome development if in the end they can package the league well in terms of sponsorship and other ways the clubs would benefit, as that is part of the reason for the delay."

Busari said his club would be ready by the proposed February 16th date, confirming they have made the necessary changes to their schedule.

"Immediately we got the information we added an extra week to the players’ holidays, so we will now resume training on the 12th of January and go to closed camping on the 28th," he said.

"The players are professionals and should be prepared to put in extra effort whenever the situation demands," he added.
