Divine Warriors ready for action

Divine Warriors FC coach, Ada Gwegwe has said his side are poised to start off their season's campaign with an emphatic win.

The Brass-based side will welcome rival NNL side, Bolowotan FC to the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa for a Matchday 2 clash after the side were excused from last weekend's opening matches.

Gwegwe said he is working hard to raise a side that will waive off the expected tough challenge from the visiting Lagos-based side.

"We gave the players just a day to observe the Christmas celebration. We've resumed to further our intense preparations for our first game against Bolowotan on Saturday in Yenagoa.

"We wanted our first two matches to be pushed forward to allow us time to prepare for the season but were allowed just a match so we're working round the clock to raise a solid squad that will give us a head start.

"I think we're somehow lucky to start our season at home. Again it comes with its challenges, everybody expects you to win convincingly. Of course, defeat will definitely spell doom and won't be welcomed even by your closest friends.

"Again our opponents shared points at home and will come all out to consolidate which makes the encounter tougher.

"We've vowed not to disappoint the fans and management, as we're committed no matter the challenges to give them a bright weekend," he said to supersport.com.

Gwegwe said it is early in the day to postulate the position of the side at the end of the season.

"We have our target no doubt about it but we have teething challenges we need to sought out first as the way it is handled will go a long way to shape the future for us," he said.

Divine Warriors had their road trip tie at Abia Warriors pushed forward on request by the NNL board to allow them get ready for this season.
