Apa Utd to wait as NNL kicks off

Newly-promoted Apa United will have to wait for the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) before they kick a ball in the National League which starts this weekend.

NNL chairman, Emeka Inyama, revealed to supersport.com that the matches involving the Oturkpo-based club, Apa United has been put on hold pending a decision from the NFF Organising and Disciplinary Committee on the final standings for Division 1D of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL).

"The games involving Apa United are technically on hold for now till the decision from the NFF is made. So whoever is forwarded to us after the decision will take up the position for the season," said Inyama.

An unnamed NNWL club are contesting the final standings that ensured Apa United won promotion to the second tier of Nigeria's professional league.

This development means that Apa United's Matchday 1 game against Gateway United is postponed.

Inyama also confirmed that three other Matchday 1 games billed to hold this weekend have been postponed.

The games are Juth FC versus Makwada FC, Abia Warriors versus Ocean Boys (now Divine Warriors) and Bendel Insurance versus Bridge Boys.
