Ocean Boys want NNL ties postponed

NNL side, Ocean Boys have pleaded with the league management to postpone their first two league matches.

The hitherto expelled side were reinstated into the football league by the NFF Annual General Assembly that met on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

The Brass-based side are scheduled to kick off their season at Abia Comets in Umuahia this weekend while they play hosts to Bolowotan FC in Yenagoa on Matchday 2.

However, an official of the side, Ohis Asein said the notice of reinstatement was too short to enable the team prepare for the season's opening encounter.

"We're passionately pleading with NNL to postpone our first two matches, we didn't know we'll play in the NNL until Thursday's pronouncement by the NFF AGA in Port Harcourt.

"In the interest of the league, the NNL should consider us for a reprieve.

"We don't want to merely participate or add up to the numbers but to make an indelible impact.

"We've been together for just five days, it's inadequate to prepare for the match. We're not ready now, we need some time to feature adequately.

"We don't even have a team considering what transpired in the side in the past," he said to supersport.com.

Ocean Boys were expelled at the end of 2011/2012 league season for flouting parts of the NPL rules.
