Cupid invades Heartland camp

Heartland forward, Fatiha Abdul Haruna will walk the isle with his sweetheart, Surayya Abubakar on December 22.

The wedding scheduled for the Aliyu Bin Abutalif Dangi Mosque, Kano is the culmination of three-year courtship between the duo.

The Naze Millionaires’ hitman was excused from his side Charity Cup clash against domestic champions, Kano Pillars on Thursday in Port Harcourt as well as the Copa Lagos competition to prepare for the august ceremony. The Cup holders won the encounter 2-0 against Pillars to successfully defend the title won last year. The prolific striker said he will return to the Owerri-based side a far improved player than previously.

“I’m wedding my sweetheart, Surayya Abubakar on December 22 in Kano. It’s a dream come true for me and I believe the outcome of the event will go a long way to shape positively my future career as a footballer.

“Already my club have given me some days off to focus on the wedding. That’s why I was excused from the Charity Cup tie against Kano Pillars to pay undivided attention on my forthcoming wedding the same as the Copa Lagos competition.

“Of course, Haruna will return to Heartland an improved and committed player. At least, the thing that has been a distraction would’ve been over and I’ll focus on my game.

“I’m excited we’ve won our first title heading into the end of the year and I strongly believe the coming season will be more fruitful.

“We’ve done very well at the Federation Cup, I think its time to challenge for the league crown as well as the Caf Confederation Cup titles,” said the former Kano Pillars goal poacher to supersport.com.

Haruna who recently endorsed a new contract paper with his side for the 2012/2013 NPL season was vital in his side back to back win of the 2012 Federation Cup at the expense of Lobi Stars.
