NPL kick-off date excites Shobowale

3SC midfielder, Azeez Shobowale has said he is excited at the possible start of the 2012/2013 NPL season on February 16.

The NPL congress, which met in Abuja on Tuesday, announced the February date for the start of the new season among other things.

Shobowale said the new date will greatly assist teams to properly plan their programme for the new season.

"I'm excited at the reported commencement of the 2012/2013 NPL season on February 16. This is the great news I've heard of late, it's good for players, clubs and it will fast-track their planning.

"Now we'll train with focus targeted on the February 16 and I think it's far better than training without any date in view. I'm happy, the news has actually made my day," said the former ABS playmaker to supersport.com.

The Oluyole Warriors on Thursday defeated city rivals and NNL side, Crown FC, 3-1 at the Adamasimgba Stadium, Ibadan.

Shobowale said 3SC hope to launch a concerted challenge at the league title in the coming season.

"Our target is to get a continental ticket as well as challenge for the title. We have engaged ourselves in several tune-up matches to be in top shape for the league. I'm sure we won't miss the podium celebration this time," said the Dolphins' player.
