Martins, Uche lead by example
It was a good week for Nigerians in Europe at the weekend with Obafemi Martins and Kalu Uche both scoring brilliant goals for their respective clubs in Spain and Turkey.
Both players have been leading by example this term and currently top the scorer’s chart at their clubs.
John Obi Mikel begins his three-match ban in England while his teammate at Chelsea, Victor Moses continues to win favour with Blues manager, Rafael Benitez.

Austria (Tipp-3 Bundesliga)
Peter Edomwonyi was an unused substitute for Red Bull Salzburg in the 1-1 draw against Sturm Graz at the UPC-Arena.
The 19-year-old has rarely featured for Salzburg this term.
Belgium (Jupiler Super League)
Michael Uchebo came on in the 89th minute for Cercle Brugge in the 1-1 draw at home to OH Leuven.
The former Enugu Rangers forward was a 59th minute substitute for Cercle Brugge in the club’s 1-2 loss to Anderlecht at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock last week as the Cercle manager, Foeke Booy continues to place his faith in the former Chelsea forward, Eidur Gudjohnsen who scored the club’s only goal .
Derrick ‘Chuka’ Ogbu was part of the action for OH Leuven as he played for 66 minutes.
Chuka was also part of the Leuven side that drew 1-1 draw at home to AA Gent last week.
He was booked in the game and subsequently substituted after 60 minutes.
Ezekiel Imoh scored for Standard Liege in the 6-1 win against Charleroi.
The 19-year-old Imoh is the top scorer at his club this season.
England (Barclays English Premier League)
Mikel served the first of his three-match suspension while Moses started for Chelsea in their 3-1 win at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland.
Moses was hooked just after the hour with Ryan Bertrand coming in for the former Wigan Athletic winger.
Victor Anichebe was not listed by the Everton manager, David Moyes as the Toffees scored twice in stoppage time to stun Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Goodison Park and move up to fourth on the standings.
Peter Odemwingie started for West Bromwich Albion against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium but was substituted after 62 minutes in the 0-2 loss to the Gunners.
France (Ligue 1)
John Utaka scored in the 28th minute as Montpellier thrashed Ajaccio 3-0 at the Stade La Mosson.
Utaka, who has now scored two goals in Ligue 1 this term, was on for all 90 minutes.
Simon Zenke came on as a 79th minute substitute for club’s 1-1 draw at Valenciennes.
The former junior international was not listed by the Nancy manager, Jean Fernandez in last week’s 1-1 draw at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC.
Onyekachi Apam was not listed by the Rennes manager, Frédéric Antonetti.
Chinedu Obasi’s inconsistent spell at Schalke continued as the club’s manager, Huub Stevens left him on the bench for all 90 minutes in the 1-3 defeat at VfB Stuttgart.
Obasi has played just four times for Schalke this season.

For the second week running, Joel Obi was not listed by the Internazionale trainer, Andrea Stramaccioni as the Nerazzuri defeated highly-rated SC Napoli 2-1 at the Guiseppe Meazza.
Obi was also not listed in Inter’s 0-0 draw at home to Palermo last week.

Kenneth Omeruo played for 80 minutes as ADO Den Haag drew 1-1 with PEC Zwolle at the Kyocera Stadion.
The Flying Eagles' defender was on from start to finish in last week’s 0-2 defeat at FC Twente.
Uche Nwofor was an unused substitute for VVV-Venlo in the club’s 3-1 win at home to Vitesse.
The former Enugu Rangers' forward was not listed for in their goalless draw at PEC Zwolle last week.
Olufemi Ajilore and his Groningen teammates faced some stern examination at the Amsterdam Arena but found themselves at the wrong end of the 2-0 result against Ajax.

Obinna was impressive for the 89 minutes he was on the pitch as he inspired Lokomotiv Moscow to a 1-0 win away to Akania Vladikavkaz last week.
Ahmed Musa played for all 90 minutes and inspired CSKA Moscow to a 2-0 win at home to Mordovya Saransk.
Musa was also on for all 90 minutes as CSKA suffered a comprehensive 0-2 loss to the big-spending Anzhi Makhachkala at the Dinamo Stadion last week.
Efe Ambrose played for all 90 minutes as Celtic won 3-1 against Kilmarnock at the Rugby Park.
Spain (La Liga)
Odion Ighalo played the first 80 minutes for Granada as Malaga won 4-0 at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
Ighalo was impressive and had several goal-bound shots beaten out as Granada were held to a 0-0 draw by RCD Espanyol at the Nuevo Los Cármenes last week.
Martins opened the scoring for Levante in the 4-0 win against Mallorca.
Promise Isaac played all 90 minutes for Antalyaspor in the 1-1 draw at Akhisar Belediyespor.
Kalu Uche scored a brilliant goal, his ninth of the season as Kasimpasa drew at home, 2-2, against Gençlerbirligi.
Ekigho Ehiosun was not listed by the visitor’s manager, Fuat Çapa.
Michael Eneramo was not listed for Sivasspor in their 1-1 draw at home to Galatasaray.
