Ike Uche on point for Villareal

Ikechukwu Uche scored his sixth goal of the season in Spain’s Segunda (second division) in Villareal’s 4-0 win against Alcorcón at El Madrigal on Sunday.

Uche netted in the 75th minute while further goals from Bruno Soriano, Hernan Perez and Fernando Cavenaghi helped the Yellow Submarine to a big win on Matchday 17.

The Nigerian forward has continued to repay the faith of the Villareal manager, Julio Velaquez Santiago who has saddled him with the responsibility of leading the line for the El Submarino Amarillo this term.

The 28-year-old has duly obliged as he continues to post heart-warming displays week in, week out. He is also the club’s leading scorer this season.

Villareal, looking to make a quick return to the top flight, are currently in fifth place on the Segunda log with 30 points from 17 games, nine points adrift of the leaders, Elche.

Villareal travel to the Estadi Montilivi, Girona to face third-placed FC Girona on December 15 as the competition enters Matchday 18.

Uche has scored 18 goals in 40 appearances for Nigeria.
