The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have called for an emergency meeting this Friday to resolve issues surrounding the NPL board and the clubs Chairmen.
18 Premier League Club representatives had an emergency meeting in Abuja on wednesday in which the NPL board chaired by Victor Baribote was thrown out.
NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu confirmed the latest development to supersport.com.
“We will meet for an emergency meeting on Friday and I want all persons involved to exhibit high level of maturity and maintain calmness,” he said
One of the thrown out members of the Baribote led board, Alhaji Owolabi Agbaji Wopa rubbished the meeting held by the 18 club representatives at Dennis hotel, Abuja claiming that the meeting was illegal.
“As far as we are concerned, we are still incharge regardless the meeting held at Dennis hotel by those Chairmen. It was an illegal meeting because they have no right to impeach us in an hotel room except in a congress.
“I have not seen anything in the allegations brought against us and the NFF have told us to calm down till Friday for them to decide.
“They said the League has no sponsor, are we the one that caused the fight between total promotion and Glo? Total promotion got the sponsorship approval and Glo came in which the case was hanged in the court. What is our fault?,” Wopa queried angrily.
