Defender Efe Ambrose put in a strong performance on Wednesday night as he inspired Celtic to a place in the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League.
The defender was impressive and almost scored with a powerful header in the second half as the Hoops beat Spartak Moscow 2-1 to advance to the knockout round of the competition.
Celtic finished in third place in Group G, three points adrift of Barcelona who topped the standings on 13 points.
Emmanuel Emenike played all 90 minutes for Spartak Moscow and impressed with an the assist for his club’s only goal, dispatched in exhilarating fashion by strike partner, Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira.
It was heartbreak for the two Nigerians on the books of the European champions, Chelsea. Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel saw their side trounce FC Nordsjælland 6-1 at Stamford Bridge but still bow out of the competition.
The Blues finished in their group on 10 points which meant a third place finish in Group E.
Moses impressed on Wednesday night with an assist for hitherto misfiring Spanish striker, Fernando Torres.
Mikel and Moses will now play in the Uefa Europa League.
It was a campaign to forget for left-back, Elderson Echiejile whose Portuguese side, Sporting Braga lost at home 1-2 to Galatasaray to finish bottom of Group H.
