Pre-season win delights Ambrose

Kaduna United centre-back, Emmanuel Ambrose said his side's victory at the pre-season eight-team invitational tournament in Kaduna is a sure sign that the coming season will be fruitful.

United emerged winners beating Wikki Tourists on penalties in the final. The invitational featured the domestic champions, Kano Pillars, Ranchers Bees, Ranchers Feeders, Mighty Jets, amongst others.

Ambrose said the tournament has put his colleagues in good shape for the league season.

"The victory means we're on the right path and progressing towards achieving our target for the coming season.

"It has boosted our morale and confidence, as it showed that if we persevere the sky will be the starting point of what we can achieve this season.

"And the notice must have been served to other teams that we'll be the team to beat.

"We're not there 100%, we're still building and I think the coaches must have noted few lapses I know they'll quickly move in to correct the loopholes.

"Of course, this is the essence of the pre-season matches, I think we're alive once again and rearing to go," said the captain of his side to supersport.com.

Ambrose would want quick start of the 2012/2013 league season.

"The gains of the pre-season invitational games will be completely lost if the league didn't start immediately.

"We're ready to move to the pitch to do what we know best and the best anybody can do for us is to announce the commencement date of the league," he pleaded.

Ambrose is insistent that his side will not miss the league shield this season.

"Expect great things from us, at least, we won't miss the league title as well as continental ticket," he said.
