Kano Pillars shine in pre-season



Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Kano Pillars on Sunday defeated Bakogi Stars 2-1 at the ongoing pre-season tournament in Kaduna.

Ugochukwu Nbonu opened scoring for the champions in the 78th minute while Ahmad Lawan netted the second goal in the 85th minute.

Bakogi Stars, who replaced absentees, FC Taraba got their consolation goal in the 87th minute through Ahmed Sulaimon.

Kano Pillars are now on six points after two games as they had defeated Ranchers Bees 4-1 in Group A opener on Saturday.

The Sai Masugida will be through to the semifinals regardless the outcome of their third game against Dynamic Sports Solution who also beat Bakogi Stars 1-0 in their first Group A encounter.

In Group B, Wikki Tourists and Kaduna United have booked their place in the semifinals after winning their first two matches against Mighty Jets and Ranchers B Team respectively.

The two Premier League sides will meet on Monday from 4pm to determine who emerge winners of Group B.
